2020 is a Leap Year

Why do we have them?  An extra day is added to February every 4 years, because, while we have 3654 days in our calendar, the Earth takes longer than that 365 days and ¼ in fact – to fully rotate around our sun.  Those ¼ days need to be accounted for so they’re added up every four years to give one full extra day.   Without this leap year, we’d actually lose six hours every year and after 100 years our calendar would be askew by nearly 24 days.
