March

March is usually blustery, but light finally wins out over darkness.  The vernal equinox falls on the 20th when day and night are of equal length, and the clocks go forward on the 25th, giving a sudden extra hour of light every evening. Spring feels irresistible now.   Summer-visiting birds begin to return, bumblebees are tentatively buzzing, and the ground can be cultivated. Yellow is the colour of March with daffodils, primroses, lemon-toned brimstone butterflies, and bright spring sunshine in between the showers and the gales. The month is named after Mars, the god of war, and the guardian of agriculture.

On the 20th the sun rises precisely due east and sets due west. This only happens on two days a year the Vernal equinox in March and the Autumnal equinox in September.

Walking the Way

For those exploring Walking the Way spiritually, I would encourage them to sign up for the daily devotions from the United Reform Church which they can do from the website:- urc.org.uk. It looks very interesting what they have planned for Lent.     Recommended by Suzanne Tolley

To be born Welsh

To be born Welsh is to be born privileged

Not with a silver spoon in your mouth

But with music in your blood and poetry in your soul.

The 150th Anniversary Banner

The 150th banner is completed and will be dedicated on Sunday 25th February and  displayed from the Daffodil Festival onwards. The ladies have worked very hard, with some doing a lot more of the fine work than others!  Note the ribbon in the girl’s pony tail, the Welsh Cakes, a tea cup, the daffodil, the Christmas Tree, the Communion squares of bread! So many bits and pieces that make up the life of the church are included.

In March 2018, the Church Mouse says...

I have decided that my 2018 started again on February 1st, January was just a trial month.

May your March be filled with relaxation, lots of laughter, good friends, and unexplained miracles.

Amen

Poem read on Sunday 28th January by Mrs Melony Ablitt, the minister that day.

From a Friend

Dear Friend,

How are you? I just had to send a note to tell you how much I care about you.

I saw you yesterday as you were talking with your friends.  I waited all day hoping you would want to talk with me too. I gave you a sunset to close your day and a cool breeze to rest you – and I waited.  You never came.  It hurt me – but I still love you because I am your friends.

I saw you sleeping last night and longed to touch your brow so I spilled moonlight upon your face.   Again I waited, wanting to rush down so we could talk.  I have so many gifts for you!   You awoke and rushed off to work.  My tears were in the rain.

If you would only listen to me!  I love you!   I try to tell you in blue skies and in the quiet green grass.   I whisper it in leaves on the trees and breathe it in colours of flowers, shout it to you in mountain streams, give the birds love songs to sing.  I clothe you with warm sunshine and perfume the air with nature’s scents.  My love for you is deeper than the ocean, and bigger than the biggest need in your heart!

Ask me! Talk with me!  Please don’t forget me.  I have so much to share with you!

I won’t hassle you any further.  It is YOUR decision.  I have chosen you and I still wait – because I love you.

Your friend JESUS
